Artist Description:
Frida Kahlo probably wouldn’t have wanted to be defined by her accident, but it influenced her work and legacy.
This piece is also an accident - my early attempts at screen printing! It also speaks to my journey post-brain injury. I felt that I lost a part of myself. Through my own rehabilitation, I had to regain my sense of self. Even as I get better, I am still marked by that one incident that changed my life. Yet, it has also given me insight into myself and brain injury, which I carry forward into my work today.
