Artist Description:​ 

Created a few months after a life-changing TBI, “Electric Regrowth” is a vivid, abstract exploration of healing, mental recovery, and resilience. While I was in the hospital recovering, I spent a lot of time drawing, but I really missed painting. When I got a bit better, I transferred to another hospital called Rehab. Eventually, I was able to go home on weekends and return to Rehab during the week. On my first weekend back home, I grabbed a canvas and started working on this painting. It felt so good to paint again. Painted with bright, saturated colors and surreal, layered forms, this piece reflects a deep emotional journey and the beauty of regeneration—both cerebral and spiritual. Through bold colors and surreal movement, it reflects the brain’s remarkable ability to adapt and rewire itself—turning recovery into something radiant and alive.

 

Artist Biography


Sara Dopstar is a multidisciplinary visual artist and creator based in Toronto. Working across surrealist abstraction, UV-reactive painting, and expressive live art, her work explores emotion, movement, and transformation through vibrant color and layered detail. Inspired by nature, music, and altered states of perception, she builds dreamlike visual worlds that pulse with energy and introspection. Sara shares her art through canvas, digital prints, and wearable pieces on her etsy shop.
