Want to help?

Volunteering with BIST is a great way to get to know the brain injury survivor community in Toronto. It’s also a great way to help BIST grow and do even more good!

Office Volunteers

We have opportunities for volunteers to work in the following areas:

    • program support
    • fundraising committee
    • administrative support
    • peer support mentors (see below)
    • blog writers (see below)

If you are interested in program support, our fundraising committee or administrative support opportunities please contact BIST’s Chief Executive Officer, Laura Bellon at: lbellon@bist.ca or 647-748-0847.

Peer Support Mentors

Our Peer Support Program is looking for mentors! Mentors are people who are living with brain injury, or are family members of people living with brain injury. They have several years of ABI experience under their belt, and have learnt what works for them and what does not. Mostly, they are ready to give back and mentor someone dealing with the challenges of life with brain injury. Mentors are interviewed, trained and must go through a police records check. Once matched with a partner, the volunteer commitment is one hour of peer support a week (provided over the phone) for one year.

If you are interested in becoming a peer mentor please contact the program’s coordinator Melissa Forrest at peersupport@bist.ca OR 647-990-1485.
